Yahoo reported today that George Michael is reportedly planning to hire a fellow inmate as a bodyguard when he leaves jail.

“The troubled ‘Freedom’ singer – who is serving an eight-week sentence for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis – has struck up a friendship with prison hardman Robert Bleach after he promised to protect the star from trouble at Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, South England.”

One inmate told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “It’s like there is one rule for him and another for everyone else. The guards have been queuing up to get their autographs for friends and family.

If it is the case that George Michael intends to illegally employ an unlicensed bodyguard then I should hope it isn’t ignored by the SIA or Police because of George Michael’s celebrity status otherwise it defeats the object of companies such as ours spending time, money and effort achieving SIA approved contractor status to provide close protection services if celebrities carry out criminal acts which are ignored by the authorities. The aim of the SIA is to improve standards within the security industry and part of that is to enforce the law!
