Hiring a private residential security team is a task you want to get right the first time. Really, you have one shot at it. So, how do you know if the security team you have in mind has the right credentials to offer the best security protection for you and your loved ones?

A security logbook is a system put in place to keep a record of everyone who comes in and out of the house, office or any other facility. The residential security team will use a Logbook to collect and keeps information to record all the daily events that take place each day.
We recommend using digital security logbooks, but often paper security logbooks are used too. There are potential issues with using paper security logbooks. They don’t require users to verify their information and in addition, anyone who signs in with a paper book can see and record previous visitors personal information.
Have they instructed all the other staff (chefs, nannies, chauffeurs, housekeepers, house managers etc.) in the house that ONLY security can allow visitors to enter the premises?
Visitor access policy should be communicated to staff and reinforced. Staff should inform security if they are expecting any visits on a specific date and time.
Intruders will try to trick their ways into premises, so unless this issue is covered regularly, there is a risk that security will be compromised.
Under no circumstances will house staff receive visitors or let them into the premises. They should be instructed tha. Only the security staff should allow access into the property. It is there job to control access to protect the property and it’s residents.
In some estates, which contain sensitive information or other valuable assets, a more robust pass system can be considered to identify the type of visitor and a sign-in procedure. In some cases The use of x-ray scanners and searches to minimise the risk of unauthorised and external access to the premises should also be considered.
Do they fully understand how to operate the CCTV / access system?

Do they carry out a comprehensive handover / takeover at the end of every shift?
The goal of handover is the accurate reliable communication across shift changes or between teams.
The following elements must be taken into consideration;
- Preparation by the out-going operative
- The out-going and in-coming operatives exchange any important updates, general points to be aware of and any security alerts which require their attention
- Cross-checking of information by in-coming operative as they assume responsibility for the security task.
